950 runs, 5,641 km and 54 km of climbing, from Boston to Bryce Canyon. These days, mostly the East Bay hills.
Every place I have run, sized by distance. Each dot is the middle of an area about 40 km across, not a starting point.
Every GPS-tracked trail run and race, drawn on top of each other. Where lines pile up and darken are the favourite trails. Races are in amber.
64 trail runs since 2022. Starts and finishes near places I go often are trimmed. Drag to pan; pinch, double-click or Ctrl-scroll to zoom; All shows every route.
Eight of them between January and June 2023, the season that built up to two 50Ks. Open a race for its elevation profile, route and pace.
UltraSignup rank is the winner's time as a percentage of mine: 100% would be winning. Pace uses the distance my watch measured; grade-adjusted pace evens out the climbing. Official results from UltraSignup ↗
Half marathons, a marathon, the ultras, and the long days in between.
Roads in Boston first, then roads in the Bay Area, then a long quiet stretch. Trails from 2022, and with them the 2023 ultra season. 2024 was nearly a year off; 2025 and 2026 are the way back.
Running is consistent again in 2026, and more than half of it is on trails. The next goal is a road one: a half-marathon PR attempt in autumn 2027, against the 1:44:37 I ran at the Berkeley Half in November 2023.
